mudstud rethink the small carb!! the 45 might cost more but the torque from having a bigger manifold and more air is big. save up alittle longer and step up to the 45. i just sold mine with the manifold. i would watch the board for a used one.

JEFFROE,
Actually torque is better on a smaller carb/intake, top end is better (if the motor can use it) on a larger carb/intake. Torque is increased by intake velocity which is stronger with a smaller carb. I chose the 42 not because of cost but because it matched the type of performance I was designing the motor mod to achieve. Bigger is not always better. If you want very strong bottom and midrange power you need intake velocity. While I may have given away a couple of ponies on top, although this couldn't be proven on the flowbench when my porting was done, I have gained monster midrange and top end with a much stronger low end.

riding the same trails (logging roads) as mudstud i know for a fact that the 45 kicks. look at the difference in the manifold at the head, it's a massive improvment over stock. never did i suffer any from the larger 45 trail riding, racing, even after going to a stage III kit. now if you'r trail putz'in maybe ok. whats the chance in the future of going inside the motor, now you got a smaller carb-manifold and have to start all over again the first trip i took to the dunes was with a stage I kit ( pipe, box, carb, manifold) i was running with hot shee,s smoking 250r's, most 4 strokes, eat'in up stock ds's w/pipes. this big carb works!!!!!!!!!!
