Harley heads, need help.

My friend has a 97' Harley heritage softail.
He went to start it yesterday(after sitting for several months) and Nothing. SO he takes his battery out and charges it, then puts it back in to find that when he hooks it up it sparks like CRAZY,and he hears a clicking sound(He swears that all the electricals were off ,and the switch to). SO he goes and buys a new battery, and hooks it up with no problems(no sparking). He goes to start it and it turns over fine, but won't start. SO he puts new gas and plugs in it,and NO start.
So he pulles the plug out to see if it is fireing, and it is NOT. He also mentioned that when he turns the ignition on the spark plug fires(once ofcorse), but when he turns the motor over NO spark(wierd huh).
Anyways, I told him I would ask you guys, and see if you alls "Harley Knowledge" is as good as your ATV knowledge he he he.
Thanks in advance guys

Ha ha, No, But I went over after work and it didn't take me to figure out that his Battery charger was REVERSE polarity! Black was HOT, and vise versa.LOL
SO, I guess thats why it was "Sparking" like crazy.he he
I think its safe to say he fried something to cause it not to fire, but were not sure yet.
Samcoeds, gave me a # to one of his friends that work on Harleys,so maybe problem solved. Thanks Stacy.
