i have the white bros, does it hert anything to run with out the spark arrester?

just your wallet when blm checks it for the spark arrestor

we usually ride on private land. does it run better without it

You don't have to worry about "sound laws" in Texas.

Open it up! put 12 disks in,and take the spark arrester out. Then jet up a size or two. You will notice a nice increase in power.
