ds650 and water
#1
was curious how deep can the ds650 go in water before i have to start worrying. i try to keep her out as often as i can, but water is just to tempting. haven't been more than about a foot and a half in water. don't have a carb mount filter either.

You sould be able to take it in water up to the snorkles if you still have the air box lid on. I take mine up a local river when the water hits summertime low, I can ride for mles crossing back and forth and rarely in water over the tires. It's like a whole new riding area that's open for one month a year. It is hard on all the bearings though, it washes the grease out of the swingarg and axle.

i've had mine floating, with the stock air box. one time even had a small fish end up in the tool pouch area. with the stock air box water up to the seat no problem but hard as hell on the bearings in the swingarm

i have to say i don't think i would like the idea of my ds stuck in the water, my brother showed me his will ride across the water even gave me a picture. so i can say he wasn't full of you get the point.

I water skip mine on purpose! Fun, Fun, Fun. Now that it's winter I go out on the local lakes usually where the creeks or rivers run in and have a ball. It's a lot easier than you think, but when you do it the first time you always worry what could go wrong on a $7000 quad. I have been doing it for quite a while so I have masterd it. Is's always fun to freak the people out that are on snowmobiles too! They think they are the only ones that can do that. HeeHee!!!!
