Default Help Carb Mount Filter

I live in New York so I don't do any dune riding my riding conditions are mostly hard packed dirt or rock with the occational mud but only when it's wet outside I don't go looking for it. I was wondering if I should get a carb mount filter when I buy my manifold and 45m carb from on dunes. If I use a pre-filter and a K&N will I be alright or will I be risking engine damage. I clean I k&N regulary now and will in the future but it can get dusty in the summer. Thanx for the input.

I do the same type riding that you do. I have a carb mount and would never go back to the airbox!! You should be fine.

Carb mount will gain a good 3 HP on the top end compared to in the box with the lid off. It really is unbelievable.

When I put mine on and went out with my buddy (same mods except the filter) he couldn't believe how much I was pulling him by. He bought the direct mount as soon as he got home.

if you get a small amount of water in there , the engine will stumble or maybe even die, just rev it up a bit till it burns the water through, now if you get stuck in water deep enough to submerge the filter, shut it off immediatly because if it sucks in that amount of water the mass of the water in the intake could either just stop the engine, or it could break the cylinder or rod etc, (water doesnt compress) cause engine failure. So just shut it off it that happens, get it out of the water try to drain it best you can, and let it sit while it dries, ive totally submerged my older honda sportrax before, just pulled it out, changed the oil let it stand on its tail for a few days, then fired it back up and back to normal.
if your runnin on trails with puddles bring an extra spark plug, cause if it sucks any water in there it will surley foul the plug first.
