Tach
#11
i use mine. Once you got it for a while, looking where you're going, looking back behind you, and looking down at the tach all become routine. i have a temp gauge too, and my eye catches it as well.
I like having a tach - its just a nice feature, although not necesary. You know when to shift just by the sound of the rev. When you get to a point that further reving doesn't give more power or speed, then you shift without really thinking about it. The tach is just something I like having, I'm a gauge kinda guy.
If you get one from bomb and you get the rubber mounting ring with it, which you should, you'll want to cut the hole in the dash to fit in the groove in the center of the ring. I drilled holes every 1/2" around the peremeter of my circle and connected them all with a dremmel and cutter bit. Then slip the ring in the dash hole, snapping it into place with the dash in the groove. Soap the ring, and slide the tach into it. If the hole is cut right, it will all fit tight and never slip once the soap dries. This holds the tach bezel 1/2" off the dash for headlight clearance under it, and keeps vibes down 'cause its mounted in rubber. It will look different than a Baja tach mount, 'cause they have the bezel flush with the dash - their whole dash is spaced up 1/2" with rubber grommets.

Hightower, good point about the spacers. I mounted mine like the Baja one and the back of the tach runs into the headlight. I used a couple electrical gromets (used to protect wire passing through a panel). Before that, the Tach would move around and losen up in the dash (the rubber behind the tach didn't do much to help.)
