What is the difference in the tach you vcan buy from Woods and the one you can get at Autozone? The wiring looks the same and the tach is the same size??????

the ron woods is the same as the bombardier one which was made for single cylinder whereas the one from autozone was probably made for 4,6. or 8 cylinder motors

It just measures by the fire right off of just one cylinder.

It is my understanding that the BAJA's tach is made by autometer. Is woods? Autometer makes some awesome gauges. They are the only brand I will use in my drag truck. You can call them.

Bubba297 from over in the polaris forum told me that he is tying his tach trigger into the lighting circuit. It makes sense since the lighting circuit "fires" twice every revolution. He then sits the tach on 4 cylinder (which a 4 cylinder car fires 4 times per 2 rev). This way will let you run a cheap autozone tach. Better yet, Summit racing has some shiftlight tachs for $35. Bubba297 is a great guy to talk with. PM him if you have any questions.

Why would the lighting circuit "fire" twice every revolution?
I hope it works, that would really open up the choices we have for tachometers.
