I made the same mod with a jig saw. I got the aluminum plate off a old sevice panel. I order 1 sq yd of outer wear clothe for 36.00. Made 7 lid covers for my gang of riders. It works pretty slick but if you have some tools and patience you could make it your self. Outer wear sell material to the public. also you could just make a velcro and outer wear material to the air box lid it self. If you have a crew you ride with I suggest you guys make some and save everyone some loot. just my .50 cent. I only have money for hardcore parts. No trinkest.

I saw this on E-Bay also. The guy makes this kit for about every quad there is. I thought to myself, it was a real good idea, but due to the DS airbox design, I think you guys are right, how would it differ from a lidless box with a outerwear on the K&N? With the DS, not much, other quads where you are unable to remove the lid due to design, it would be a great mod. Putt

ok, the aluminum flange is higher than the outerwear fabric. Therefore, sand or dirt would collect and the outerwear would act like a sifter....and the smallest particles would pass through and hammer your filter. I think an outerwear on the filter is better and a hole in the bottom of the airbox to prevent an accumulation of debris would help.
