Default UNI Fire!

I dont know about you guys but I would stay away from uni fiters on a ds! I had a small back fire and that filter lit up like a roman candle. thank god I was work on it when it happen in the garage and not in the dunes or somewhere else. I talked to rwr fri and he sending me a k@n filter I know from using these on cars there more flame resistant.

I am using the Pro flow foam filter because I ride at the dunes and dont want to do a top end for a while. Maybe ill get some K&N filters some time soon for when im not desert riding but i dont trust the K&N at dumont with all the dust in the air!

Fear not the unknown for it could be your friend...I'd give credit to whoever wrote that but I can't remember
Seriously though, I've had my K&N w/outerware for almost three years. I ride almost exclusively at the dunes for the last two and I have cleaned it once. Beleive it or not it didn't need it then. Absolutely no dirt makes it into the intake hose.
The sand has far less small dust particules then regular dirt so the outerwares keeps most everything out of the filter. I had the stock foam filter on the wifes KFX400 and it was a dirt magnet, had to clean it after every outing and I found dirt in the intake hose I put a K&N on hers this weekend so no more worries there.
In my opinion the K&N w/outerwares is far superior to any foam filter.

the k&n does an excelent job filtering the small particles. The outwears (contrary to popular belief) are not meant to provide protection against the small particles. It keeps the large particles from collecting on the oily surface of the filter and clogging it up too quickly.

DSdunecrazy, you way off on that one, the K&N sucks at filterin small particles, hold it up to the sunlight and check out the large holes, dust flows right through those, and also check the inside of your carb after riding through dust.......
K&Ns are never run in desert racing... I wonder why?
