Outlander 400HO In a Shortbed
#11
I have an Outlander 400. Stock, it would not fit my Silverado 2500HD short box with the gate closed. Close but no cigar. I have a bedliner which robs me of a few inches especially in front, but removing it is not an option.
I have recently added a front and rear bumper (among other things...rear rack extender and skid plates) to the Outlander. The front bumper adds a couple of incles in length down low, that is below the sides of my box. The rear bumper is no problem (if pulling the Outlander in vs. backing in) as the rear bumper is high enough to be over the top of the tailgate.
I just loaded it in my truck to take it to the dealer for a new speedometer as the original has been fogged up since the day I picked it up. I have also asked the dealer to look at the clunking issue (I have a copy of the Bombardier memo). Finally, they are installing a Warn 2.5K winch for me. This will add some more length, but I usually transport in an enclosed trailer when going riding.
Bummer that it will not easily fit with the tailgate closed...that makes life so much easier!
Other than the above mentioned issues, I love the Outlander. Former ride is a Polaris Xplorer 300 (2 Stroke). I can't badmouth the Polaris...it was a great quad that I got a lot of use from...I just outgrew it. The Outlander is really a fine example of a trend setting machine. I would call it a hybrid....sporty and utilitarian. Choose how you want to ride today.
