Sand Lake is great for day trips. You can go down there and ride all day (drag race, play in the idiot holes, ride the trails, find some cool jumps, etc...) The area just past Derreck Rd. campground is great. The sand is always smooth, and you can wind out your motor in your top gear for some great high speed runs over rolling hills (jumps if the wind moves the sand around). I've never gone there and left disappointed. You just can't compare it to the Southern Dunes. Sand Lake is it's own kind of riding, and has a very friendly atmosphere. Every time I go, I make new friends. I guess you guys can b!tch about Sand Lake, but it's a heck of alot better than parking your quad in your garage and staying home.

Well then I retract my Walmart statement, I did not spend much time looking for hidden riding spots. There are some areas like that in many dunes I've ridden on but in Florence, most of the good spots can be found without a tour guide.

i ride florence a lot and found a really fun trail last time i was there, wish there was a tour guide oh maybe it was the trail that you cross the stream and my wife hit it hard, and yes she was wearing a fox t-shirt,the ride back to camp was one of my better rides.

there is a pretty Good trail if you go past comphill at florence and keep heading in that general direction. it is not for the little because about half way through there is a hill climb. it is not to big but there is no turn around once heading up to it. it was perfect my brothers friend rides a 250r and he was making fun of my ds. (even know i was smoking his sorry #$$ all day) well he was heading up the hill and hit a corner of a tree and rolled all way down breaking his rear spacer and grab bar.
