Funny thing is, I was cleaning up my office, and I came across an old issue of ATV Sport from April 2001, and it has a '4-Stroke Sport Quad Shootout" article, featuring the Honda 400EX, Polaris Scrambler 500 2WD, Bombardier DS650 and the Yamaha 660R Raptor.

What's FUNNY, is that the Honda 400EX won that Shootout. But if you look at the April 2003 ATV Sport issue, you will see that in the Article titled "Clash of the Titans", The 400EX didn't receive the same kind of praise, and finished either last or near the bottom in each category.

WHAT CHANGED? Between the 400EX, DS650 and Raptor, not a whole lot has changed, and yet, the opinions in ATV Sport have changed drastically.

NO Mag is free of contradictions, PERIOD.

RPM,

That is a PERFECT example. Amazing, truly amazing. If these reviews were based on facts instead of opinions then the results should have been the same between both years. No wonder I canceled all of my subscriptions to the ATV magazines. Now I just subscripbe3 to maxim - I can look at scantily clad women & agree with the people reviewing them 100% of the time & ride my quad & agree with my own review 100% of the time - a truely perfect world! (Okay, maybe not; it could be nice to combine the scantily clad women & the quads...)

yea but you should be grown up enough to make your own decisions on these dumb shootout's,if you dont have that much experience in quads, then i can see you believing everyword of it,but i have been riding alot and with alot of diffrent quads so i can tell the differ from my own experience,,I still like all the pics and some of the articles.. I'm not by any means endorsing the Magazines, I just get a Kick out of listening to people say that this Mag does this and that mag does that, this one is Better, that one is more honest and so on and so on. The TRUTH is that they are all pretty much the same.

Another Great example. In that Shootout where they picked the 400EX over both the Raptor and the DS, it was for the same reasons that they now pick the Z/KFX400 over these same quads in a lot of the different Magazines. That there is what you call CONSISTENCY. Yet because some people don't like the outcome (Even though it was the same way with the 400EX), they cry Foul and blame it on Bribes and Conspiracies.

In the end, the Magazines are not a BIBLE, they are a TOOL, nothing more. Lots of Pretty Pictures

Get ready to go fishing, cause I just opened a can of Worms.

i think all the mag editor and test riders are all pansies, afraid to get on a real bike, its not very often they actually get on a ds. and if they do they have someone else ride it then give their opinion
