Default GPS aux 12v setup

Tired of burning mega batteries on my GPS. I hooked up an aux 12v which works without the ignition/key on.

I followed your lead and basiclly did the same as you, only difference is that i used the dashboard on my DS to mount the power supply since I dont have a tach.

Take a look at my pics

I got it at Autozone for $13, it works best when you use the batteries in conjuction with the cable. It worked perfect in Glamis this past weekend!

why run batts and power cable? ill have to check to see if mine even has a power cable port...

(garmin geko 201)

would it use up the batts then go to the 12, or run 12 with the alkalines as backup?

the 12 is the primary, but the batteries back it up when the 12 either comes out the plug, or when you start the motor, it keeps it from reseting the unit
