sprocket hub

I agree.... that damn thing is REALLY tight on the axle.
I ended up placing my axle vertical with the inside of the sprocket hub on the top of a vise (wheel hub on passenger side would be on the high side. With wheel hub on shifter side being low). This allowed even pressure across the sprocket hub. I used a 15lb sludge choked up to not mar the end of the axle or mushroom it. Gave it about... uhhhh... 20-30 good hard taps. And it came off. But I had to continue the influence with the sludge all the way off. Once off.... I found many small metal shavings from the sprocket hub. I'll use the same method but in reverse to put it back on.
A press would work wonders. But... at 1am ... they are hard to come by.
ALSO....
I have an OEM shop manual on CD. It says nothing about taking off the Sprocket hub.
It does say the Rotor hub takes a special tool. Ya... and ya know the special tool in my garage was a large rubber mallet.
Interesting. Definitely a well made machine.
