Default 10 Hour service.....

you need to follow the manual, it tells you. the valves need checked. they more than likely will not need adjusted, but they need checked because every once in a while one does, even though most don't.
you won't hear them ticking if they need adjusted - valve clearance decreases over time, not increases. eventually when clearance is gone they will not close completely, resulting in compression loss and backfires.

Default 10 Hour service.....

Thanx for the good info guys. I'll probably try the oil change today and get the bike in for a valve check in another weekend or two. I dont think the bike has a full 10 hours on it yet, but i like to be ahead of the game. Considering that I just broke the bike in, i at least wouldnt mind getting an extra oil change in.

thanks for the help all

Kenny
