Throttle/Choke adjustments on SunL 50 XL
I'm having a hard time keeping my daughters new SunL50 running. I'm trying to get it all set up for Christmas. Not being familiar with the components involed, what do I need to do? The thing will start with the choke all the way out. I actually have a small vice grips on it as it wants to go shut under it's own weight. If it's running and I let off the choke in the sl;ightest, it will die. The throttle cable at the hand grip. Is this the only way to adjust the carb? Any carb tuning tips are very well apreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

These will not run right the first time and need adjustments. On the right side of the carb there is a screw with a spring around it. This is your idle screw. Clockwise turns the idle up and counter turns it down. The screw to the left of the idle is the air fuel mixture screw. These are very finikey to start at first but once warmed up and adjusted they start really well. The choke is very sensitive. As you turn it over pull out the choke till it starts then adjust your idle up and let it run. Once you get it started let it run for about 30-45min at an idle. Then turn it off and let it cool. Try to start it again after it cools and make more adjustments as needed. You NEED to make sure you change the oil. The oil in these is shipping oil and needs to be replaced. The oil drain is on the bottom twards the front. A 17mm bolt. Do not take out the smaller bolt. Your fill is on the right side tward the back. There is a site glass to see how full the oil is. It takes about 1/2 to 3/4 of a qt.

I'm about 20 minutes from tghe 222/30 exit. I'm about 45 minutes to Solanco Schools. I'm 2 miles behind the old Zinn's Diner off the turnpike. I apprecate your offer but my time between now and Christmas is limited so your help on the net is probably the best for now.
