Default Checked out the BAJA 250 today

Well I had to order some parts for my little Baja 90 today......the boys broke them head lights right off!

Anyway I ordered them through a local repair shop that does the work for the local store that sells them.

He was saying that out of the Baja stuff we get up here at CT the 250 quad seems to be most trouble free. He was saying one especailly was really good, I can't remeber the serial number break he mentioned.

But he said over all he's found some of the baja stuff doesn't fair as well in the heavy swamp mudding etc. He was saying they've had some problems with the 400 4x4's cooking the engine when they get all full of mud. I guess the oil cooler?? Is mounted in the wrong spot or something.

Also he said if the 400's got the 3 hr. PDI they are suppost to have much of the little stuff would be taken care of at the get go. But I guess people buy them out of the box and ride them. Which even for a brand name is not done.

After reading back on this thread I am convinced my rear pads are saturated with oil or something. I removed the drum, cleaned all components, sanded the drum and reinstalled everything. They're working better but still not the best. I never thought the pads could act like a sponge and soak up any delivery oils etc.. I've ordered parts from Baja but the rear pads (part 250U-481) are currently on backorder from China.

If anyone wants the Wilderness Trail 250cc ATV (VIN PREFIX LLCL) parts manual I have an electronic copy. This file has all the part numbers for the LLCL Wilderness 250. Just private message me with your email address and I'll send it off to you. No need to get a Gmail account for this, the file is only 3MB.

Oh yeah, if anyones digital speedo stops working I know one reason why. My brother-in-law has the same Baja 250 and his stopped working. The lights on the dash work but it stopped registering speed. I removed his back wheel and speed sensor. I noticed the magnetism ring (part 250U-633) was loose. This part should be tight on the axle and only move when the axle moves allowing the sensor to detect movement. It appears a bunch of mud dried seizing the magnetism ring to the speed sensor (where it should normally be allowed to rotate). I separated the two and manually moved the magnetism ring with my hand... yep, it started to display the speed. This plastic part was stripped and needed to be replaced. I ordered it from Baja and installed it. His speedo is 100% again.

I have a 2005 250 Baja Locin. I lost 1st gear, I am rebuilding it. Will the motor parts from yamaha or Jianshe fit?? I am pretty sure they all have the same motor and other parts. I have went through the parts manual for the locin and the jianshe and they have different part numbers but they look the same.

Even some of the diagrams and pictures are exactly the same in the manuel on my Marshin Titan! Engines are different though.

I'm currently replacing all 4 of my tie rod ends. I have 538kms on my unit and I shouldn't have to replace them this early. All the rod ends have vertical play and I'd better do it now to be safe. If anyone hasn't checked their rod ends I highly recommend you give them a shake. The rod ends cost about 15 bucks each and aren't too tough to replace.

I also noticed that my front bearings weren't greased from the factory. Anyone know the approx cost of replacing them? I've read that the 2004 Yamaha Bear Tracker bearings will work but are expensive.

Hey peeterti, just wondering how your first gear was behaving before it went. I'm not having issues yet but just wondering what to watch out for.

ghcoe, I was reading that your unit has turn signals, a horn, and a passing light button. Our units are very similar (I have a Baja) and I'd like to see if I can get some of the parts you have on yours for mine. Is there a web page I can visit to read more about the Marshin Titan? Or better yet, do you have an electronic copy of the users manual or service manual?

Thanks

They do not have a website, but I have a number you can call. It is toll free 866-950-2300. Micky is the guy who helped me. They should be able to get you to parts. You might look here for other parts. My unit came from Blue Ridge but I believe it was ordered from that warehouse from the dealer.

The motor in the Marshin is a Lifan 163FLM. You can tell by the tag on the bottom of the engine near the oil drain plug. Oh, the manual I have is useless. Hope this helps.

DanOMite01 The first gear just started poping out of gear once in awhile and then finally after about 100miles it would just rattle like it was missing teeth. I took it all a part which is a major job, the complete motor has to come apart and split the crank case. It ended up the two dogs that fit into the bottom gear spokes worn down and just started jumping out not engaging. I think it was my nephew trying to do wheelies or pull some heavy loads which they are not built for. I guess he won't be using it anymore. Thanks peeterti for the info. From time to time I pop my clutch to lift the front wheels... I'll be refraining from that temptation from now on. How many kms do you have on your machine?

Thanks ghcoe! I have the Wilderness 250 from BAHA and I've noticed that a lot of these units that come from China are similar but have different features. Your Marshin has turn signals, a horn, and a passing light button where mine doesn't. The picture of your Marshin is very very similar to my BAHA.

Thanks for the info because I wanted to compare prices with some other dealer to make sure I'm getting the best price for parts. Looking at these units I think a lot of the parts will be interchangeable (knock on wood). I did some price comparing already and noted that BAHA charges $15.99 for the rod ends whereas Blue Ridge charges $7.00. I am assuming that these parts will fit but seeing how some parts can be 50% cheaper I may take a risk from time to time.

Thanks again buddy!
