Default Checked out the BAJA 250 today

I have one of the Wilerness Trail 250 and my speedometer stopped working. I replaced the sonsor, digital consol and the wire cable between both. I even phoned Baja for a service manual which they tell me they don't have! Do you have a service manual you could email me or send me in the right direction. Thanks

Hi, I got a Wilderness 250 a few weeks ago. My spedometer/odometer is not working from the store. I have a warranty work order in with my local repair shop for a speed sensor. I brought it back to CTC right away and they took my spedometer head and installed it on a bike which works and my speedo head works. They then took the working one and installed it on my and it didn't work. Obviously, it is not the speedo head. It must be the sensor or the wiring in between. I will keep you posted as to my progress. It has been alost two weeks that the sensor has been ordered. Hopefully soon. I want to get as much as possible out of my 90 day warranty.

Locally both the Baja 250 and the Janshe 250 are sold. One day I looked them both over and they are not the exact same quad from what I could see. Maybe different production runs or something?? who knows. I think they even have different displacements on the engine cc's etc. I didn't look at the frame manufacture plates on each one that day. Could be that they are made in different factories.

Canadian Tire sells ones made by Jianshe and ones made by Loncin. They are similar but not the same.

I managed to get in touch with two people at BAJA. I sent one e-mail and got two replies. One said they would mail out manual and the other was to e-mail. We'll see. One person asked me which Baja 250 I had. They asked me to give them the first four letters of the VIN. guess that determines the different sub-models. If I get the e-mail manual, I will freely send an e-mail of the manual to anyone who requests it.

Have had my BAJA 250 from CT for about 3 months now and haven't had any major issues. Had to adjust the front and rear breaks and the speedo cut out. But there is a new one on the way. I ordered some extra parts from BAJA, ie, nuts and bults, air filters etc.. and got everything without spending a single penny.. have taken it out on the trails and through the swamp.. also pulled around a small trailer for odd things and not a problem at all.. for 3 grand this is well worth it.. if i needed another i wouldn't think twice of getting another one..

The first one I got leaked gear oil out the seal between the drive shaft and gear box. I only had it for a couple of days and they exchanged it for me. 2 months after getting it I see it is leaking motor oil from where the drive shaft exits the transmission. I got the service manuals but the oil seal isn't apparent from the pics. I think fixing it is going to be a major job. I'd say it probably leaks about 1/2 oz of oil for every 100Kms. The oil leaks into the boot and collects in there and doesn't start leaking out of the boot until about 100km's from the last time you emptied it. I am not happy because I figure its probably going to cost a lot to get it fixed. Even with the 3 month parts warranty this type of problem will cost you $$$. I Will probably have it looked at next season. When I buy another quad it will be a Polaris or an Arctic cat. This was my first quad and now that I know I like it I am ready to step up to a higher quality one. I'll hand this one down to the wife and kids.

You said that the plugs were black. What octaine of fuel do you use? I have just purchased a wilderness 250 from CT and I see a label on it that says to use 92 octaine.

If anyone is interested, I have an electronic copy of the service manual for those bikes with a VIN starting with LLCL. It is quite large, consisting of five sections each about 12 to 15 Megs. I would ask that anyone who wants a copy to leave me a PM and I will send out the first one. You will have to download them off your mail server before I send out the next section or it will bounce. I may not get to it immediately, but I am on the web several times a week.
