I had not heard of that 303 stuff, is it available locally? How often would you have to apply it? Would Armorall (might really attract dust) do the same also? I guess I never thought the plastic would do this or I would have searched to find a solution. I was hesitant about reporting this discoloration but this is information along with solutions are what a lot of people might like to know!

I found it as West Marine. online These stores are popping up all over the past couple years. If one is not convenient, call around your local marine outfitter or just order online.

Just sprayed my plastic. If you don't hear me moan in a few months, maybe it works on this stuff. :-)

Armorall might work but 303 is made specifically to protect from UV.

And THANKS for reporting this as it might be very helpful to others such as myself if a little PM mitigates UV damage.

I've sort stayed out of the Bill-China comments and scan them amusingly, rather than get my dander up. Here is how I look at it quite simply.

Golden rule - You get what you pay for. Chinese quads are a magnitude less costly than the authentic model being cloned. No one can dispute this fact. There is also less quality in the Chinese quad. That is also a fact I doubt anyone disputes.

Calling the Chinese product is certainly Bill's prerogative, as it is a subjective statement and his own view which he certainly has right to have and voice.

What bothers me is the comments are taken as a negative connotation, rather than stating something rather obvious: Chinese quads are lesser quality than their Japanese counterpart.

Clearly, all of use would love to just go out and buy brand new Japanese quads, maybe even nice clean used ones. Maybe some of us simply just do not have the money, time, knowledge, or skills to assess condition of used bikes and maintain them. I simply did not have the money to buy two used bikes and all the other things such as a trailer, boots, helmets, gloves, goggles, ATV safety training, insurance, etc.... and here in California I had to buy two as my son can not ride unsupervised. It came down to two Chinese quads or no quads at all. Pretty simple and obvious decision for me.

Bill - you have a right to your opinion but I hope you understand that everyone's personal situation is different and making the decision to buy a Chinese quad is made in context to many other factor's in that person's overall situation and decisions.

I respectfully request you refrain from making comments that are derogatory toward Chinese products, simply stating they are not the same quality or offering constructive tips on how to repair, fix, improve, or maintain then is just fine; just hold back on the "junk calling", please. It servers no constructive purpose in this forum and creates ill will to some, and I have to believe you intentionally do not want to make people feel bad.
Thx

yea i have the right and my opinio these atv's are junk and a complete waste of money for anyone buying one over the age of 12, good beginner quads for 3-12 year old but a complete waste of money and time for anyone over the age of 12, chinese atv's are junk , you know that and so do I , you can say anything you want to try and justify buying one, i can't. if you don't want others to form a negitive opinio on them simple just don't post negitive reports or pictures, like broken swing arms, wheel bearing failing and so force

Bill,If you go to the search box in this forum and type in the word broke you will get several posts that have nothing to do with chinese quads. After reading a lot of them I havn't seen one post from you ridaculing some one for buying a jap quad.

Your in your face degrading comments are ment to degrade and offend people that are doing there best to enjoy ATV's within the confines that their lifestyle will afford.

You have made your point several times please understand you have been heard and as far as I am concerned enough is enough.I don't know what personal gain you get by constantly beating your drum to unwelcome ears.

The chines quad owners that have been posting on this site to me seem like wonderful helpful people that can't wait to trade information or give a helpful hint from an experiance that they might have had' good or bad.

Windtrader wrote a very respectful post in response to your sarcasm giving you a chance to understand and maybe step up to the plate and possibly humble yourself just a bit twards people in here but I feel its more important for your one man crusade to build your ego by degrading good people.

Hi Bill,

I'm sorry you continue to choose to think you are somehow better than others here because you have an Arctic Cat and many here are riding "crap" Chinese.

What makes America wonderful is the diversity of people who are accepted and allowed to live here: nice people, tall people, skinny people, fat people, and even AH like you. You think you are high and mighty on your AC but a quick google on "Arctic Cat" ATV problems returns hundreds of people unhappy, some clearly VERY unhappy.

Here's a quick sample. I got tired very quickly cutting and pasting. This was from the first page of hits.

You've overstayed your welcome here and shown you care not to be helpful, so why don't you go to some other forum, one where everyone slings feces at each other and boasts about how much they can scrape off themselves and sling back at the next bloke.

"the older cats were very unreliable but I believe they have made some great changes and seem to be getting better and better"

"Bought my Cat h1 last may and its been in the shop more then i've ridden it!!Have starting problems problem is it won't start lol anyone else with starting problems?"

"I have had a litle trouble with one of the carbs leaking fuel. "

"I bought my 04 650 used from a co worker and I would like to kill him. I have road it twice and its been in the shop 4 times. When it runs its great. If it runs as of now it is a 6000$ paper weight."

"....but as soon as the cold weather comes it never starts."

"I have a 06 arctic cat and have had so many problems I just cant beleave im the only one. front diffy troubles and the 2x4 electric shiter motors are a joke and dont last any longer then a few hundred miles each. im on my 3rd on. I really like it when there is nothing wrong with it but thats usually only the first 10or15 miles after getting everything fixed. STAY AWAY FROM ACTIC CATS. The company dosent care after they get your money.!!"

"pure 100% usda junk"

"My 650 is overall OK, but it I have a hell of a time starting it. In cold weather it will not start at all! I t will crank but does not fire. I had the unit in for repair as the chock was stuck in open."

"I have had many brands from Kawasaki to yamaha and Suizuki. All were trouble free. I have 45 miles on my Artic Cat 650 HI. It is junk!!! Won't shift from 2-4 and back and now wiring harness is burnt up.Dealer says they have to deal with AC in the problems and AC won't return my calls.Don't buy an Artic Cat ATV!"

"I had a 250 Arctic Cat, I had a lot of problems with the brakes on it. We managed to fix them enough to sell and buy another atv. I bought a Arctic Cat 375 Automatic 4x4 (green) 2002. I had trouble with the brakes again when I first drove it, and I then had a new Master Cylinder put on.

That fixed the problem for a little while, but just this past weekend I went to drive my 4-wheeler and I had no brakes...."

I guess the Chinese "junk" ATVs actually get enough road miles to actually encounter problems such as bad bearings and shock mounts. Pretty hard to do that with your Arctic Cat if it's in the shop broken down or won't start.

btw - Just so you know I have overspent my allowance of wasting time and energy on folks like you. Poof - you're in the ether. It was nice knowing you. Bye

EDIT - Oh one last thing - sorry for the late post. My son and I just got back from a very nice day riding at the county park and gosh -- nothing broke. But I did have to tighten two bolts. That should be a small consolation for you.
