Default kazuma 50 starting problem

I've had the Kazuma 50 for about a year now with no problems. I change the oil regularly and was using Castrol GTX 10W40. This last time I changed the oil, I decided to use Honda GN4 10W40. Ever since I changed the oil, the quad will not start using the electric starter. It turns over, I have spark, fuel, air filter is clean and compression seems OK, but I don't have a gauge to measure the compression. I pulled the plug and put my thumb over the hole and turned the engine over and I can feel pressure, but I'm not sure how much I should feel. So, heres the weird thing. I decided to to try pop starting it. It worked. I can pop start the quad and once it's run for a while, I can turn it off and then it fires up with out any problem using the electric starter. So, I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. Any ideas? Is it possible that the clutch is adjusted to tight? I use to be able to pop start it using 1st gear, but now I have to pop start it using 4th to 3rd gear. Is it possible that the difference in oil brands is causing the clutch not to slip enough? Thanks in advance as this is really bothering me.

You should get a compression reading. The biggest thing with the Kazuma 50 is valves need to be adjusted after a while. You know this when its hard to start and runs rough. You did not over fill the oil did you? Changing oil should not affect how it runs although you should not use regular automotive oils in these quads. You need a atv/4stroke/motorcycle oil made for wet clutch applications. Regular oils have too manty friction modifiers and will eat the clutches up. Any oil that is JASO MA certified should be used. You should never pop or push start the quad. It should be in neutral when starting.

Default kazuma 50 starting problem

Thanks for the reply 2manytoys. It actually runs fine once I get it started. But ever since this weekend, I have to pop start it or my son can't ride. I switched to the Honda GN4 because it is a 4 stroke atv/motorcycle oil and that's what I use in my 07 TRX250EX. I'm just not looking forward to adjusting the valves. It's so tight to get into that area with tools. I've got to get it fixed though as my son is freaking out that he can't ride. Just wanted to see if anyone else has run across the same problem. Thanks again.

Default kazuma 50 starting problem

when i use to adjusted the valves on our grandkids meerkats, i used to stand the atv up on it rear wheels, made it a lot easier that way, also manual says .002 clearance for both intake and exhaust, i adjusted them at .004. i like a little more clearance than running them to tight and won't hafta adjust them so often

Default kazuma 50 starting problem

I just joined this site and I cant figure out how to post. Anyway hopefully someone can help. I bought a Kazuma Falcon 250 brand new and I have starting problems. Its hard to start. ...I guess there is no choke on these...also it will idle but when you give it throttle it bogs out....when I do ride it ...it jerks with the more throttle I apply as if its not getting fuel....is there anything I can do to make this atv run better? Also the chain tensioners have already bent...I had to bend them back but I probably need new ones....one little bump and they were bent....anything anyone can offer to make this thing run so it can be ridden would be great.....I know you get what you pay for but I am stuck with it now and just want to be able to at least get it running so I can ride it....also I have read about changing roller weights.....not sure what those are....Thanks

Sounds like you need to adjust the carb. Here's how.
1. Warm the engine up for 5-10 minutes.
2. Make sure the choke is off.
3. Turn the mixture screw clockwise until fully closed and then turn the mixture screw counter clockwise 2 turns out.
4. Adjust the idling screw until the engine idles normally. Idle should be between 1200-1500RPM.
5. Press the throttle open and see if the engine stumbles or bogs down.
6. Adjust the mixture screw by making 1/4 turn adjustments until the engine accelerates without stumbling or bogging down and you get the highest RPM's at full throttle.
7. Make final idle adjustment. You want the engine to idle and not stumble or bog down if you press the throttle quickly.

Hope this helps. My son's Kazuma 50 did the same thing. Press the throttle open quickly and it would stumble and bog down. I adjusted the carb and it's been fine ever since.

I adjusted the valves last night and what a difference. It fired up, no problem. I also checked the compression with my thumb after adjusting the valves and what a difference. Thanks for everyones advice.

Thanks for the info.....I will try that tonight when I get home from work.....I dont think there is a choke on the Falcon 250....at least I have not found one...There is no manual to speak of that shows anything....I will post back after I try the adjustments..

I think the Falcon 250 has an electric choke.
