I assure you I'm no engineer, would be nice though. I work in industrial maintaince/fabrication. They joke about me bringing in "government jobs" all the time.

You might try the Lubriplate, it is good grease. I'm afraid that with all the dirt/sand/mud/water these things go thru nothing will stay in these bearings very long, and they need to be flushed out with clean grease.

I was going to drill my linkage pieces for Grease Zerk's. Are you planning on drilling out the bolts? Im actually going to be working on my 250 for the first time since I broke it. Im hoping to have it back together some time Saturday. I also like the idea for greasing the chain tensioner, but I was also thinking of making a chain guide and tossing the chain tensioner. Not sure now.

You keep up the good work 00XJ and just know lots of people appreciate it.

Right on. I got some silver Pro Taper SE "High ATV" handlebars from a local shop. They were $65 and I believe they are 813mm Width, 160mm Rise, 100mm Sweep, and I think they will work out well (It was the only handlebars they had in stock.)

I would be interested in seeing pictures of those zirks if you get them installed (placement, etc.) Maybe jetmoto will also. Still can't decide if I want to do 18 tires yet. I found some tires that are $45 ea, but the rims are all looking to be $90+ each, so if I do, I guess I'm gonna hit ebay if I decide to go with 18s. I would like to get the jetmoto rims (because of looks and price) but I can't find any 18 inch tires with that width and rim size.

Also, apparently there is a place that does custom sprockets, so getting a 13 tooth to go with the bigger rear sprocket, and keeping 21s or 22s on the jetmoto rims would be rad. Man I don't even want to think about what it's going to be like after I actually get the jetmoto...

I had thought about both ways of doing it. Personally I think drilling and tapping the linkage arms themselves would be the way to go. Cross drilling the bolts would be MUCH easier though. I don't really think as small a hole needed to drill out the bolts would weaken them enough to be a problem. There... I might have just convinced myself to drill the bolts.

I don't have the linkage right now, John at Raceway asked me to send it to Eugene at JetMoto so they could look at the parts. Hurry Eugene, my son is getting antsy to go riding.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

I worked again on the tensioner this evening. I pined the nut on the stud holding the chain roller on. It's not going anywhere. I drilled a hole in the tensioner arm, and ran the end of the spring that used to be under the arm thru it. My son caught the tensioner on something awhile back, and popped the spring off the arm. I figured now it is captured by the hole, and can't come off again. IMO, the spring could stand to be stiffer too.

I'll take some pictures of the arm tomorrow, and try to get them up before work. Gotta do a 12 hour shift tomorrow, 3pm till 3am.

Im so paranoid that i would buy some grade 5 or 8 metric bolts and drill them. I drilled the linkage out on my CR500 and just had to make sure thr zerk wouldnt get sheared off during its travel.

I am calling Eugene tomorrow and will ask him whats up. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

That sounds real good and i agree the stock spring is a little weak. Now i want the chain guide again. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Looking forward to the pics. I have done 3am to 3pm but not your way. Sounds tiring.

Sorry I haven't posted up any pictures yet. Crazy hours at work, and my daughter seems to have hijacked the digital camera.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]

Still wondering how much longer it will take before the linkage, front shock, and ball joints show up. Soon I hope as I have the week of Memorial Day off and my son and I are planning to go to a new ATV park here in Indiana.

I've been at it somemore.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] I noticed that with a heavy load of mud on the rear fenders it looked like they might sag enough to break. So I fabed up a set of braces to support them. It is attached to the bolt that holds the grab bar on, and supports the fender with a rubber bumper. I was going to bolt it to the fender, but decided to try this first. This way the fender can still move if he hits something. We'll see how it works next week. Hopefully!

I adjusted the mixture screw back to 1 1/2 turns from 1 7/8 turns. I can't ride it, but it seems to have a MUCH quicker throttle response if I blip the throttle. I did this because I noticed the muffler was getting coated inside with some black soot. Might have been a tad rich for my area. Indy's elevation is somewhere between 800 and 900 feet I think.

BTW, has anyone else had an oil leak problem at what I would call the neutral switch? It's inside the front sprocket cover. I have checked the screws that mount it up, one was slightly loose. It still appears to be seeping oil alittle, but not a big deal.

Well I'll try to get some pic's up as soon as I can.

Meant to ask you before, do you know the dimensions of your handlebars? The width especially I'm wondering about.

They are 32" wide, with about a 6" rise, and are angled back about 6".

Mine are about the same. Taller, but not angled quite as much and 1" longer. Yours are the ATV High or ATV Low from MSR?

I think this pair I have is going to work well.

EDIT: NM, I'm pretty sure yours are the high bars. Thanks man.
