Bent Rim
#1
This past weekend i went out riding and was having a good time and all and all of a sudden we riding and i hit a huge rock were we were taking turns riding and bent my back rim. Which then all the air came out of my tire and had to cut my riding time short.
Is there a way that i can bend the rim back so i can seat the bead? I really hate to buy another rim again. If i can ill post some pics tonight or tomorrow morning.
Also maybe i just should have stayed home that day i went to load ATV on truck and thought since the tire was off rim i had a feeling i wasent going to make it up the ramps. As i went up i felt it tip and it landed on its side and bent the crap out of the Throttle lever. Does anyone know if you can just buy the lever instead of the whole assembly???
I was lucky that i was ready and jumped off of it if not it would smashed my leg.
I had to call a family member to come and help me get the thing on my truck so i could go home. It was a bad nite to go riding but thank God i was ok. Thats what counts

To straighten a bent rim - it really just depends upon how bad it is bent. If the bend has not "creased" the metal it can probably be "beaten" back into shape.
My method - since you often have to use a LARGE impact and I like all 10 of my fingers AND, I'm NOT into pain;
I use a "mason's hammer" (hammer head on one end & chisel on other end) and a 3 pound mason "lump" hammer or mallet (3 pounds gives the appropriate amount of 'force')
AND YOU MUST WEAR SAFETY GLASSES !!!!! (due to hitting hardened hammer ends together) (1 chance in 10,000 one might shatter).
Alternating from both ends of the bend - place the the chisel end of the mason hammer in about 1/2" from where the bend begins in the 'trough' area of the edge of the wheel. Whack the upward pointing hammer head with the 3 pound mallet. Move to opposite end of bend and repeat.
Move chisel / hammer in about 1/2" to 3/4" from where you were and repeat process, again and again, until the rim is straight.
If metal of rim "cracks" you are done for - finished - kaput. A 'broken' wheel rim does make a nice 'base' for a garage fan !!!!
