any idea's on this

after a ride a few day's ago , i noticed lot's of oil covering the back half of it , if i go by the dip stick a half qt of oil came out.. it looks like it came out the crank case breather( if that's what you call it). the atv sounds and runs fine as of now. any idea of what broke or came undone???..
so i checked out the other (250t vbike) same thing oil again apears to be coming out that breather, but not a lot 1/2 oz. or so..

Did you ever dump the quad on its side? minor crash? I know that if the engine is on its side it can spit more oil out of the breather...In normal circumstances this shouldnt happen.

3 things can cause engine oil to enter the airbox. Too much oil was put into the motor, depending on where the case breather is located, standing it on end or as silly as it sounds the carb can leak gas into the cylinder. The gas slips passed the rings and into the crank case. The more gas that flows into the case the higher the oil level becomes. This occures with the bike off of course. When you check the oil see if it smells like gas.
i realize your breather hose doesnt go to the airbox ,this is from the honda forum a motor is a motor, i would check the compression on both of your machines and see what the p.s.i is and if there is much difference. do you shut the gas valve off when not in use? did you smell the oil?

i alway's check oil before a ride and it's never any higher on the dip stick.
the atv is at the shop now but when i did drop it off the oil did look real thin, but no smell of gas. but looking back to when we took the seat off the smell of gas was very strong, but not the oil that was pooled up on
the back of it. i plan on calling the guy later today and see if he has at least looked at it...
