Taotao 250 CDI
#11
The stator has nothing to do with the ignition system, except it produces the power for the battery. There will be a pulse coil on the outside of the flywheel which signals when to make a spark, this could go bad. Work out what those five wires to the CDI do, one (or two) earths, one (or two) from pulse coil, one to ignition coil, and one positive from ignition switch. Make sure they are connected to whatever they should be. If you short the negative spade on coil to earth momentarily, with ignition switched on (mimicking points) you should get a big fat spark at the plug, if so the coil is OK. You should get a small AC voltage from the pulse coil when engine is spun on the starter. If everything else tests right, your CDI must be faulty.
