Default Little quad questions

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I just bought a Taotao ATA 125 lets just say well used. I think it's a 2008 model. Simply not knowing much about these quads I have several questions because several things were broke or missing when I bought it. First thing is it has an exhaust leak I removed the muffler assembly and saw no gasket unless it stayed inside the engine? When I get a new one does it go in first then install the muffler? Next question is how do the lights get power, because I put a new battery in it and the lights work but based on how many RPM's the brighter the lights are? Looks like who ever had it before cut and spliced about every wire on it? The push button for the starter does not work so I had to put a rocker switch on it (saw that on you tube). I replaced the carb because the idle screw was lost and someone put a weird screw in it. It runs good and does not smoke believe it or not? My nephew rode it this weekend and it did good. One more question I ordered a new breather and it came with a nipple where the old one didn't can I simple plug the nipple or what goes on it?

The light issue is normal they increase with RPM. Not sure what you mean by exhaust gasket but it goes between the engine and pipe, do not over tighten those bolts its a alum head. The nipple on the breather i believe is a drain

So the batteries only function is to start the engine? The exhaust gasket on line looks to be a copper ring? I guess my question would be how does that ring fit? Does it fit over the pipe or just fits into the exhaust hole and the exhaust pipe presses into it and makes the seal? And then the breather (Air Filter) has a nipple I guess I can plug it? The original one did not have one but , the new one does. Thanks for your help.

Pretty much... Not sure about the gasket but should be pretty clear when you get it in front of you as it should only go in one way. You could plug the nipple, or leave it open and put a short hose on it.
