Ignition help
#1
Help..I have a minerilla 90cc 2 stroke. No ignition on the atv when I purchased it. It does have kickstart on it but I would like to put an ignition on it. Cant not find a wiring schematic for it to save my life. Wires that lead to old ignition are colored as followed. 1 red, 1 black, 1 black w/ white stripe, 1 yellow w/ red stripe, 1 green w/ white stripe and 1 solid blue. Can anyone please help a pal out. My son has been driving me crazy to get it running.

The ignition circuit makes the spark and (usually) is completely independent of the starter circuit, which circuit do you need? Some Minarellis have AC ignition, some a DC one, the circuit for AC is different to DC, and the stator is different, as AC systems have a separate stator coil for powering the spark, as well as the trigger coil, and generator coil(s) for charging the battery.
A lot of Minarelli engines have an electric choke carburettor. If yours has, this will akso need wiring to it.

These are the key ignition wires. Cant see in photo but yellow wire has red stripe

Here is the simplest diagram I have for an electric choke AC CDI bike. Your wiring colours may not match this at all, so you need to know which wire does what when wiring the switch and stator wires up, don't just follow the colours on the diagram blind. If your machine is DC ignition, this diagram won't work for it.
