Clutch question
#1
I have a 125cc Honda clone motor with the F-N-R semi automatic. I just got it going and realized the clutch was junk. I decided to rebuild it with new discs rather than replace the entire clutch. I got it apart and reassembled it. The kit had 3 discs. One with clutch material on both sides and 2 with material on only one. I put one of the single sided in with the clutch material to the back of clutch, followed by the 2 sided and then the other single sided with material toward the top side of clutch. Once started it will stall once put in gear unless it's throttled up. Once you get going it seems to work great as long as the rpms are up. It's seems like it's always engaged. So the question is was my install wrong or is there some other problem?

Also want to add that after I had everything back together I realized I never oiled the discs before reinstall. Not sure how important that is. Kinda seems like that may be the issue, but I don't know.

I've never come across the type of clutch you describe, so can't comment on how to assemble. However if it is "semi auto" there will be two other clutches in that case and it is them that controls the initial start from rest. The centrifugal clutch engages as you rev up, so it may be this which is stuck engaged all the time, however if you have had this apart when you worked on the multiplate, there is a one way clutch in the middle of the centrifugal. Put that back the wrong way round and you will get those symptoms. Easy check, engine off, engage forward gear, roll bike forwards, one way should engage and make engine turn over. Roll backwards and one way should disengage, allowing bike to roll free. Engage reverse and you should get the opposite. If bike doesn't roll free at all, the centrifugal or one way is stuck. If you find it is working the opposite way to how it should, you have put the one way clutch in backwards during re-assembly.
The plates should have been oiled but I doubt if they would cause those symptoms.

So I ended up removing the entire clutch I had just installed thinking I had assembled it wrong because I was in a hurry. I had another of the same clutch, so as I disassembled it I put the new parts in, so I knew everything went together correctly. Got everything back in the quad and got the same results. Now I'm thinking maybe that adjuster on the side cover may be the issue? I'll have to check it out later.
