Speedo Assy for Polaris 1999-2001 500cc ATV
SPEEDO ASM,3.38",6-PULSE
3280290 3280363

Looking for a good used Speedo from any 500cc ATV or 6x6 Polaris according to the above link it's the same part number. $400 new is ridiculous!!
Old Pt# 3280290
New Pt# 3280363
If anyone is parting out a 99-01 Polaris 500 let me know. eBay & Craigslist have been a strike out so far. give me a price and shipping to 31047 either reply here or a PM.
Thanks,
Roger

It's me again.. Since you love to tear into things, you might look at these posts on speedo repair, may help. AWD and Speedometer don't work - Page 2 - ATVConnection.com ATV Enthusiast Community KA7OEI's blog: Repair of the speedometer on a Polaris Sportsman 500 4-wheeler
Plus googled your zip and just curious. How far are you from Reynolds? Knew a sweet little gal from there, but wasn't meant to be I guess.. She was 17 and I was almost 20.She came down to visit family that I was friends with. Hit it off pretty well, but she went back and we lost touch. Can't remember what I did yesterday, but remember that sweet little Georgia peach from time to time...

I'm only about 45 minutes or so from there OPT. I have a couple of those type a gals I've met back when too. Like you, I can't remember last week, but there are just some people you meet and they stick with you for ever. I'll take a look at those links you sent and see if I want to get froggy and attempt a repair. Thanks buddy.

Just read over those repair procedures. Oh yeah, I'll be doing that soon. I'm an aircraft electrician by trade, but have dabbled in electronics stuff all my life, so this looks pretty simple. My only concern will be getting the thing opened without breaking it....lol. As one of the write-ups suggested though, what's the worst that happens, I brake an already broken speed assy, right? Thanks for those links.

Well, I couldn't help myself. I took the speedo apart tonight and not too much of a surprise I found the TIP48 transistor just hanging out in the housing and not connected to the board. Hoping for a simple fix, I cleaned the circuit board holes out, oriented the transistor correctly and soldered it back in, but alas, not workie workie. I just ordered new 48TIP transistors and am going to replace both of them on the board since I have it apart. We'll see how it goes. I just can't see paying $350-$400 for a new speedo that will only at some point have the same failure. Seems it's a very common problem. I'll update when I know more.
