CENTRAL OKLAHOMA ATV CLUB
Hey Chris - Welcome to Oklahoma's most "diverse" group of off-road enthusiats forum (Same to you Wish, sorry I didn't welcome you sooner).
There is currently NO membership fee to join the COATVClub (Central Oklahoma ATV Club), but you are welcome to make payments on any members ATV at any time if you like haha
All you have to do to join is (according to Brink) is sink your ATV in the South Canadian River at Purcell, Ok. Well, you don't "HAVE" to sink it, but Jason (Brink) did and now there has been talk of making him a charter member (j/k)
As I have heard Bobman mention in the past, there are no fees to join, just a desire to have fun and ride. So, if you meet those requirements - welcome aboard - to the board/forum and the club. And welcome to you too, Wish!!
Concerning Seminole:
Well guys, I told the City Council that "if you allow one user group (the equestrian riders) to use this undeveloped land and NOT allow another user group (the ATVers) to use it, you are admitting that you are biased and discrimitatory". And yes, that got printed in the newspaper.
I was accused by other City Council members of "namecalling" and "garnishing my support from outsiders". What they can't deny is that the MAJORITY of our supporters are from Seminole, and that they outnumbered the equestrian supporters by 3-1. Regardless, they voted to allow to expand the equestrain trails and NOT allow ATVs, even though it was the ATVers who originally requested the land.
So, I called on the citizens of Seminole to remember the council's "biased and discrimitatory" vote at our next City Council Member election which will be held in March of '05. We have high hopes of showing how our current City Council "does not respect nor honor the Democratic process". There's a WHOLE LOT more to this issue than this forum could allow for that I could tell you here, but rest assured that this issue is not dead.
On the contrary, my other City Council supporter and I are "vigoriously" seeking to purchase/lease some property that will far surpass anything we could have offered at Sportsman Lake through the City. We "thought" we had secured a deal for 1280 acres, but the guy was only using us to raise the lease he had with some hunters (jerk).
Not to despair though, we have several leads on other properties that we are currently in negotiations with and expect to have the ability to offer a new riding area soon (don't know how soon, but soon). Owning the trails ourselves is a good thing - it allows us flexability that City-owned trails would not. In other words, we can do any dang thing we want to make our riders happy and not have to worry about outside influences hampering our/your ambitions.
With that said, try to bear with us. We have already spent countless hours in research and negotations in an effort to bring you another place to ride and experience a state-of-the-art ATV facility. And we ain't going to stop until we find the perfect place.
Keep the faith,
James

Something to think about on the weekend of the 2nd--that is the Third Annual Antlers Deer Festival. I just watched a deal about it on the news. They're expecting around 15,000 people. I don't know if that would affect anything or not... On another note, some of ya'll (there's a good Okie word) may be interested in going. It's all about hunting and camping. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's are supposed to be there. I've never been to one, but I plan on going this year.

heck yeah we'll ride with 3-wheelers. hell, we'll ride with lawn tractors and riding mowers. one guy rigged a seat on a roto-tiller and leads us in parades.
ok .. now to the important stuff ... stand in the middle of the room .. turn around quickly 3 times and say (in a kinda sing-song chant) oh i wanna be coac member .. that is what i truly wanna be .. and if i was a coac member ... everyone would go riding with me. voila .. youre a member.
our next ride looks like its coming up on the weekend of 10/9/04. i guess we'll be having a meeting/ride on the river at purcell on the 31st. come on down and ride with us. we only have 3 rules ... 1. new guy brings the beer, and we cant seem to remember the other 2.
see ya soon

Welcome to the ATV club of Oklahoma. James said there were no dues.... But at our LAST official meeting I was elected Treasurer for the group. ( The vote was 1-0 in favor) Please send $100 to me here in Lewisvile, Texas. CASH ONLY as we do not know you that well. This will cover your dues until I (we )need more funds.
NOT that you guys care, but we will be in Muenster Saturday Morning (9/25) about 8 AM. If you come go to the "second" gate and drive your pickup down to the River. We will be there most of the day. Park under the trees close to my Black Dodge Pickup
Have fun and be safe this weekend.
PS--CHRIS YOU will need a winch or tow rope as ONE of our mmbers tends to sink a lot. You will need to be able to pull him out.

Guys,
Don't beleive all you hear on the killing at River Mist/Hwy99. 'The newspapers and TV stations are not telling everything about it. The alleged killer had been beat with a chain, his daughter has 22 stitches in her head and face from being beat with a chain, etc, etc,. It will all come out in court. I personally know the guy. He was a former school board member. He is not a racial person. Some of his best friends are black.
News media. You gotta hate them.
