I have not talked to anyone at this new park, or anything but read their webpage. Ginny thought the boots issue might be because of the snakes. The outdoor school Lewisville goes to asks the kids to wear boots or ankle shoes from May to August because of the snakes. I don't know... But we will check it out as this is another place within 2 hours that we can ride. Ginny loves the Arbuckle Mountains as she has taught outdoor school one week a year there for the last 20 years.

I think Gordon's right about Bob's being right about Brent's being right. They can suck my @*%^*%#^& left toe if they think I am buying boots to ride a four wheeler. After all, I do ride a grizzly with tires that are too big & carry a gun.... What else do they think I need?? By the way, I also kind of frowned at the restriction on kids quads. It's not like I let them ride any more than half an hour at a time around the entrance, but I don't like being told to leave them home. Other than that, It looks pretty cool, but I agree with Brent on the waiting for more input before taking off there.

Has anyone ridden at Lake Draper or the new Crosstimbers riding area lately?
Are the trails at Seminole as tight as Drapers.
How about Camp Gruber?
Am trying to find somewhere to ride that has trails, but can get on the gas once in a while to air out the brain.
thanks

Guys
Here is something some of you might want to attend. It is the FIRST Annual ATV Rodeo in Huntsville, Texas.
Saturday June 11,2005. Send me a PM and I will send you a flyer and the web page links. This is a bunch of the people that rode at the Mud Nationals, and love to party. There will be prizes and lots of fun.
IF you PM me, then print some of the flyers off and give them to your dealers for them to display. The profits we generate will be donated to the Conroe Lions Club for them to help people less fortunate than us. I know it is a long drive, but it is riding with a BIG FAMILY group. They will have camping and a lot of kids to hang out with. Prizes will be given based on number of entries per event. There should be several hundred people at this event.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Descriptions
Mud Bog : I promise a snorkel will not be a requirement. There will be mud and water but not chest deep all the way across. There will be classes very similar to the Mud Nationals Event.
Sand Drags : Denny at General Sams has built a 150ft+ long drag strip with an area to stop past that. There will seperate classes for utility(yes utility) and sport quads.
Tire Pull/Sled Pull : You've seen the redneck craze(yes I'm one too). If we can get a sled we'll use that. If not, Denny has some very large tires connected to cables. There will be size classes for this.
Tetter totter : I am building a 4ft x 10ft platform tetter totter. Lets see who has the best balance.
Cross Country : We'll be roping off a course through the woods and trails. nothing real extreme but still challenging for everyone. Once again, there will be seperate sport quad and utility classes.
Buddy race : Two people on two four wheelers leave out. Two people and at least one four wheeler must come back. Hopefully(mud willing) this will be a tough event. Team Work will be the key.
Poker Run : This will not be a race!!!!!! We'll line everyone up and a single file line will headout in the same direction.
There will be a cash payout based on number of entries per event and sponsorship levels

Seminole isn't nearly as tight as some of the spots at Draper, and there are a few places to zip along at a pretty good clip.
I don't know anything about Gruber.
Maybe I'll pop out there today (Draper), and see what's up. (I'm only about 3 miles from there.)

If it's the trails Pictured here (southwest area)? If so, I've ridden them, they aren't very tight, and the area isn't very big. I think that's what they're calling "Crosstimbers".

the old crosstimber is closed. they are opening a new area this sunday about 1/2 mile south of the old area. i rode it last week on my motorcycle with some of the trail crew. it is in the sw area by the campground. they are closing all of draper to riding except this new area. the new area was tight on the motorcycle. there is about 7-9 miles of atv trails and another 20-25 miles for motorcycles only.
The city of OKC owns the land. an off-road park is a good idea, but they are concerned about errosion, so there are no creek crossings or hills. no jumps, no drag strip area, no mud. nothing but trees to grab a handlebar or rear axle.
I've ridden draber since 1971. I miss the old area with ruts and hills and good times.
I need a good riding area
