Hey, where do you guys buy tires locally?
I went to two stealers today, and they both quoted me in the $140-$150 price range...FOR ONE FREAKING TIRE!
Tractor Supply has a pretty heavy duty one at around $50, but it seems kind of heavy. I also looked at Brians ATV. Do any of you have any other suggestions as to where to go for a new tire?
Thanks,
-Mike

I popped one of the stockers on my Z400. Most of what I have found are 21" x 7r x 10. Stockers are 22" x 7r x 10. I really didn't want to lose any clearance, but due to availability, I may have to go with the 21s.
I ride 75% dirt, and trails (Draper)...25% sand down at the river. I popped this tire on a rock (or root) trail riding, so a thicker sidewall is probably a good idea.
I know I can order a pair for that much, I was just wanting to know if anyone knew of a good place to buy local...I am an "instant gratification" type guy, and don't like to wait But with the prices I have been seeing, I may have to grow a patience gene.

Mike,
I have NEVER been in there but I can tell you one place that has been in business for a long time and is not too far from your home is "Cycle South" on SE 29th and Sunnylane (SE corner of intersection next to Wallgreen).
Another long term place is "Del City Cycle" on SE 29th between Sunnylane and Sooner. Those places have been around forever so you might give them a call.

Brent,
When the weather straitens up and gets warmer I would like to go to Prague and ride. The pictures that I have seen of Chadwick look pretty nice. I don't mind rocks and I usually go slow enough that I don't get my quad too torn up (unlike Good ole Ozzy). Kind of reminds me of a trail that Keith and I got on in SE oklahoma, we start up this tall hill, not real steep but just long and tall and about half way up it all turns to rocks about 4-7 inches in diameter and they were all jagged and messed up. It took forever to make it to the top. but we made it and it was a good ride...man we need to all ride again when the weather gets better.

No problem Mike...
I know this sounds kinda sappy and Reganomics in nature but I like buying locally in my own community. I never really thoguht it mattered but I once saw a study that shows if you spend $1 in a town of less than 100,000 people approximately 58% or something like that of it is eventually reinvested in that community, even throug utilities, salary etc...just thogut I would pass that info on. But back to tires, yeah I will be needing some new ones next year. Let me know how Cycle South and Del City Cyle treat ya.

Neither treated me well today. When they said "$10 per tire to mount", and I told them that Wal-Mart only charges $3.50....You see...That's the point where that guy should say...."How about $10 for both?" But he said, "fine, go there".
I said OK.
I went back to Brians ATV and ordered some Holeshots....With a 4 ply sidewall this time
At one point, three people in there were helping me pick a set of tires, you know....Questions and answers going both ways across the counter. At no point did they act like I was interupting their important task of sitting around (like everywhere else I have been has done). They acted like I was a paying customer, and they wanted my money. Just like it's supposed to work, IMO.
They will get lots of business from me, even if I have to pay and extra buck or two. Nice folks in there.
I think all the parts dealers are just mad about this whole "internet thing" and how it makes for a slightly mory savvy consumer. I don't understand how they stay in business.
And Reaganomics are the reason that Clinton didn't have to worry about the budget IMO.

I've only heard good things about holeshots. I was going to get some when I replaced my rear tires but just couldn't part with the $$! I'll always go to the people that treat me the best even if I have to pay a little more. I'd rather give my money to the nice guy than the a$$ any day!
