Default NEW LAWS IN QUÉBEC,CANADA

As of May 1 , 2006

The minimum age for operating an ATV is 16 years old

It should be known that, a document presented by the minister responsible for Transportation in Québec, Madame Julie Boulet, has moved the current minimum age of 14 to 16 for operating a quad and a snowmobile.

A mandatory ATV driving course for 16-17 yrs old is the best way to sensitize young people to the need to respect private property and the community.

The FQCQ, for its part, informed the parliamentary commission that the best way to increase the safety of this clientele was a mandatory ATV driving course for young people 16 and 17 years of age. This measure would make it possible to properly train the largest number of teenagers.
Please know that individuals 14 and 15 years old who have already completed their ATV training course before the law was changed will preserve their right to drive.
