Jasper, NY - August 14, 2012 - The Jasper Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department invites the public to its 9th annual A Ride To Remember fundraising event.

Started nearly a decade ago as a tribute to the thousands of volunteers that served the devastated metro-New York area in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001, the Ride to Remember has enjoyed growing success since its inaugural event.

This year's event takes place on Sunday, September 9th, with registration from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Riders may begin anytime during the hours of registration. The ride starts on Grass Hill Rd. in the Town of Jasper and is open to ATV's, Side-by-Side UTV's and dirt bikes. Cost is $20 per rider; passengers are permitted if vehicles are factory-built to accommodate multiple passengers. Participants also have access to camping on Saturday evening at the cost of $5 per person; food and beverages will be available on site for an additional fee. The course trail is approximately 25 miles long and accommodates vehicles up to 77" wide.

Sponsored by more than 20 local businesses, the Ride to Remember has hosted approximately 500 riders each year, raising nearly $100,000 total over the last eight years for the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department. The fire and ambulance department has nearly 20 members and serves the Town of Jasper, New York, a 50-square mile region with more than 400 homes and 1200 residents.

Individuals wishing to participate in the 2012 Ride to Remember are invited to register the day of the race, and may begin anytime between 9:00am and 2:00pm. For additional information, please contact Bill Heuring at (607) 382-1050 or email jvfdatv@gmail.com.
