Default Best riding 6-ply ATV tire?

I have the atr's. They ride as smoothly if not more so than the stock 2 ply dunlops, yet have a 6ply rating. They have incredible traction and handling on all terrains aside from deep soupy mud. They do great on hardpack, woods trails, sugar sand, and in water. If you ride a lot of mud, get a more muddable tire like the mudrunner or mudlite. I personally am not that impressed with ITP's quality control, and would get the mudrunner if I needed an all around tire. One tire can't do it all, so you have to give up some area of performance if you want to go with only one set of tires. Good luck!

Edit: just noticed you were in tampa, where do you ride?

I've been eyeing the ATR's, but haven't talked to anyone who's had them on a Foreman 450. A few magazine "tests" (staff-rider reviews) have bragged on the Kenda Bear Claws for long-wearing, lighter-weight (than 589's), good-climbing, soft-riding use in everything but really deep mud, and you can't beat Kenda's prices, compared to ATR's or 589's. One or two of those same "reviews" have commented on a "vagueness" in steering response of the ATR's -- just as a poster or two has mentioned that the Bear Claws add noticeably to the steering effort. For all day in the saddle on my Foreman, easy steering, soft riding, predictable traction, and long-wearing are all pretty important.

Have you had any experience with Bear Claws vs. ATR's ??

I've ridden a polaris with bearclaws, and the ride on pavement/hardpack was noticeably rougher than the atrs. There is no vagueness in the steering that I can detect, the atr's absolutely rip on the trails!! I've put 900 miles on mine or so with no real visible wear....

Greetings
I agree with Easteregg and jwkawi that the Mudlites are a good all round tire with excellent mudding ability with the advantage of being probably the lightest of any of the 6 ply agressive quad mud tires on the market.

Many thanks to all who responded to my questions. I finally decided on the ITP Mud Lites. The combination of light weight and credible performance on both the trail and in the mud is tough to beat, not to mention the low price. I'll let everyone know if they live up to my expectations. Thanks, again!

Hey there Old Dog, I see a lot of people runnin 5+ lbs of air in their tires & complaining about the ride?? We run 2 1/2 -- 4lb max run just enough so your not hittin the rim & they ride a lot better & give much increased traction. 6 ply tire sidewalls will almost carry a 4 wheeler themselves!! so you don't need much air, + the wider footprint will carry you up more in the soft mud.

As blackrancher mentioned the mudbugs are an excellent choice. I have them on both of my p650's and they are truly a great all round tire. As well,I believe they are lighter then the mudlights (27") and usually are cheaper at m ost places.

ITP or TITAN 589s are excellent tires.
