Default Need Puncture resistance

A friend of mine has bought a new Griz. First ride out he put a thorn through the side of the factory Dunlops. He is not interested in Mudding, just hunting. He does want to go up to a 27 inch tire and would like some nice wheels and wants a tire that wont puncture easily without going to super mudders. Any suggestions?

ITP 589s are awesome, I used them on my Grizzly. They are tough and have excellent traction.

I run fix-a-flat in all my tires all the time. So, a thorn is no big deal. Some people have reported rim corrosion from doing this, but I inspect the rims carefully when I change tires, and replacing rims even every few years is better than a long walk home in the desert!

You would be surprised how much puncture resistance a tire gains when you air it up too around 6lbs.

Got SLIME??

I put SLIME in all of my tires, it will immediately plug up to a 1/4" hole when riding. Before I went with that stuff I plugged at least a half-dozen holes. Since I've been running it I have a clean record. I still carry a couple of plugs and CO2 though just in case.

I have 26 in 589's and they are tough,, 6 ply rating,,,,I run about 4 to 4.5 lbs psi,,I should drop down to about 3-3.5lbs.
