Default FOX Float Air Shocks?

Hey Guys!

I'm new to this forum, but have been a reader for a while...never really had a reason to post until now...

I was surfing the web and came across something I haven't seen before and wanted to know if anyone knows anything about 'em yet. They are the new air shocks that Fox is apparently going to be making for the Predator (or all ATV"s??). Take a look at this link on the Rath Racing website:

http://www.rathstore.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=205

Looks pretty interesting...what do you guys think?

Later!
HS

The concept is pretty cool. Time will tell on the reliability scale.

They look like long mountain bike rear air shocks. When air shocks first came out for mountain bikes they had problems blowing seals but nowadays they are pretty much bullet proof. The best thing about them is that you can adjust everything (travel, compression, rebound, negative spring).

I had some early ones on a mountain bike. Didn't keep them long! They gave all kinds of problems. Swaped them out for a coil-over. I currently have one on another mountain bike, and it is much better. However, if doesn't hold its pressure over long periods of time. I wouldn't want to go out of town and forget the air pump!!

i have a Fox Float rear air shock on my mountain bike. it's a cross country bike but i do a lot of jumping and downhill riding on it. the shock has held up very well, except for 1 blown seal, and the seat post sliping down when i landed on it on a hard landing. the post dented and slightly punctured the shock. luckily warranty covered both. air shocks don't seem like too good of an idea to me on a quad. on my mountain bike i have to pump the shock up after every long/hard ride. unless they have a new way to make them hold their air, i wouldn't get them.

This was Rath report on the shocks it is listed in his forum
"We are very excited about the Float shocks. We did alot of testing in 2 days with Everett from Fox. We tried them on a Predator and LTZ 400 and they worked awesome. We experimented with different valving, air pressures and tried and tried top bottom them out and couldn't. We even tried flat landing off of a 55 ft double and they soaked up the landing. When we know more about the availabilty and price we will let everyone know."

As I recall, Rath was talking about a pretty reasonable price for them as well. The weight savings is gonna be huge (no springs needed). I'm gonna go with Rath's ZPS setup til the units have some time on them.
