Tires for Warrior
#1
I just purchased an 03 warrior. I have been riding utility machines for a while and I have never had a problem with flats on the 4 and 6 ply tires I have been using, even running over mesquite thorns and cactus several times.
The stock tires on the warrior work fine but they have some plugs in them and they do not look very puncture resistant. I like the way I can slide the back end around on them.
What would be a good tire choice for puncture resistance and overall trail riding (rocks and mud also, but not pure mud, that is what the rancher is for). I do not want to lose any ground clearance and I still want the ability to slide well. I also do not want to add too much tire weight because I don't want to lose any power. Also it seems like any tire that has a rimguard is an added bonus. I would also think anything over stock would have less sidewall flex.
I know on my rancher the mudrunners I have slide a lot better than stock, I guess because less rubber actually touches the ground than stock so it is easier to break loose. But I lost some power because they are 6 ply and heavy compared to stock.
Any advice from experience would be greatly appreciated.

I personally for rec. riding which includes mud, trails and even a few rocks i have maxxis razrs on the rear
and titan fast trekkers on the front i've never had trouble with punctures and they are actually lighter than
stock and provide excellent hookup and i have no trouble sliding my rear end around but i've probably got a
little more power to.
