Default Not good report on new Maxxis BigHorns

Did my honest research. About a month looking, reading etc etc.
They arrived today and had them promptly mounted at wally world for 20.00. Not bad
They look very cool. The Bad Factor twice what the factory dunflops were.

They ride like theres rocks in them. They hook up acceleration better than the duplops. Stopping...??...I have to say a longer stop from 30mph with all locked up in the same grass strip, I overshot my "turn" twice on the first run.
But the ride is hideous. Choppy, harsh, and dam near feels like a wobble at 25+. Is that the nature of tires like these? I was leaning to the BearClaws but went higher cause of "better" ride results.

Help would be appreciated-Could it be the tire pressure? Too high? Not mounted correctly? Torqued down wrong?
I'm running 6 in the front and 6.5 in the back
Thanks in advance-
CWG

I have Maxxis bighorns 25" on my Honda AT 400. I wouldn't go back to my stock tires. I had it up to 40 mph last weekend, and I didn't have any wobbles. The old stock tires gave me a bouncy ride, but the bighorns are a lot smoother and less shock when hitting holes and riding over rocks. Does your bighorns have the yellow circle on the side of the tire?
The yellow circle needs to be in align with the stem for balancing. I had to get the tires remounted when I received them because the yellow circle was not aligned correctly. For my type of riding, I wouldn't have any other tire.

Well, I knew the problem with the bad belts had been fixed around June of this year.
Today I ran them on 5 and then on 4 pounds.
Amazing what a difference three pounds of air can do for an ATV.
What a tire. Going to give them a real good going over on Sunday!

Will the bighorns be a good tire for fast trail riding? We run about 45 to 60 mph on the open hard pack rodes. I'm sure they will work just want to be real sure. We also ride a lot of woods, from what i've read they seem to be the best tire for me.

last post was the 24th, since then I went on a 4 hour nut run- sandy trails, mud, logs, rocks, ravines, wet leaves, small streams, loose gravel, 45 degree and steeper hill climbs. Got stuck once- high centered on a rut, not the tires fault-
The worse of the day was a root, about a foot tall, between two trees, with mud all over the area. It took high rpm and rocking the bike back and forth and lots of forearm work-but I got out with only minor body damage. I saw one bike in front of have to get off and lift the quad over to get by it. I saw other bikes go around the same thing after watching us. The guy in front of me (deerchopper) same tires, get over with the same amount of aggravation. I love the tires so far, not a mud tire, but did ok, all around trail tire with excellent characturistics- check my pictures of the stick that stabbed the sidewall!

I get to go on another much, much wetter and muddier run in the AM. I'll report Sunday night how they did.
I'm sure its going to be the same as the previous run
your welcome-

Well, I didn't go nuts as I was riding alone. But, I noticed there was a ton more leaves on the ground, after the day long rain this week it was wet. Climbing was easy, downhill was a bit different. If the leaves were thick enough to get wadded under\infront of the tires I slid a bit. Wet logs werent a problem wet rocks- same good traction.
Like I said, I was riding alone so I didn't see how far\how deep I could get stuck! But, normal overall riding, I'll get another set of these, unless someone proves somethings better. There was a pack of three sport quads I was sort of following, and they constantly got stuck in the same stuff I'd just put thru, granted I've got a heavy 4wheeler vs. ultra light 2wd bikes, but you get the idea. My prairie was a tank AND on the odd occasion I ran into a spot there was no way I was going to try and get thru, I'd flatten some trees and make my own trail around the trouble spot!
