One of the easiest and best things that you could do is to go buy the appropriate HELI-COIL thread insert kit. If you've never used it before, just go slow and think before you drill, and it will work just fine. (Every time I use it, I put a drop of "blue" loc-tite threadlocker on the insert before installation. You dont HAVE to do this, I just do it for piece of mind)
Remember, when tightening bolts on aluminum, ONLY do it with the metal at room temperature. And, because Aluminum is so much softer than the bolt you're threading into it, the bolt isnt going to feel "tight" like when threading into steel...

You told AC454 that you use "blue" loctite on heli-coil inserts. The "blue" loctite is the removable grade threadlocker. Why wouldn't you use the "red" permanent grade threadlocker? I would think that you would want a heli-coil insert to be permanent.
