I've just mounted up the new 23" and 22" XCT's on my stock Warrior rims and now have a strange oscillation in my front end. Above 30-40 mph I get a side to side wobble like it is searching for a groove. I was running 6-7 psi, and have since lowered it to 4 psi in hopes of getting more tread contact patch to the trail. I haven't rode on the lower psi yet. I'm wondering "can you balance a ATV tire with wheel weights? Has anyone else noted this wobble charectoristic with the 23" XCT's? I'm wondering if the larger size has something to do with it over the 21" stockers.

I can lessen the oscillation by clicking my 7-way steering dampner up a notch, but I want to fix the problem and not the symptom. A sister thread to this post is "Trouble with ITP's" so I'm not alone in this problem.

I have a warrior. Have you ever checked to see if the front bearings are out? My front bearings out thats why my front end wobbled. Jack the front end up and shaked the wheel if it moves side to side your front bearings are out or your bolts on your wheel nead tighted.

Bearings are fine, and lowering the pressure helped slightly, but the cause is in the tires. Now I'm checking toe-in which both manuals says should be .6-1" toe in. Is this to be measured off the front rim front and rear, or off the sidewall of the tire front and rear?

Like I stated before, I did not have this shaking problem with the stock tires, which is the only variable I changed.

hmmmmm.

I've experienced this with other tires. I had the same situation with my Bandits. I found that I could actually get the fronts balanced, but you have to epoxy the tape weights on for them to stay on. It worked for me. I'm not sure yet if it was the tire of the combination of both. We have some new Holeshots mounted on the same rims so I'll let you know. By the way, it was out of balance by an awful lot. Many of these orv tires are very poor at higher speeds. Mine were fine to about 60 mph or so but at 65+ I couldn't hold onto the bars.

So did you do a static or active balance job? I'm not sure how'd you mount a ATV 4 or 5 bolt rim to a tire store "spin in up" machine, or did you just balance them on a single balance point like a lawn mower blade?

thanks for the input.

One of my front XC's does that but you have
to be hauling on pavement to notice it.

But these are on new rims.Bent rim perhaps??
