Adjusting / Balancing idle on dual carbs.
#1
I have a 98 Banshee with two new Keihn 35mm Air Strykers. I have three questions reference adjustments:
1. How is the best way to syncronize the carbs? The stockers had small glass sights you could look through. What is an easy, economical way to syncronize them without this glass sight?
2. My intake manifold does not have any type of Boost Bottle or balancing tube like the stockers. Is this OK, or do I need to make some type of modifcation?
3. How do I ensure the idle is balanced and even between the two carbs? In other words, should I just turn the idle adjustment screws in entirely and then screw them back out in equal increments ( ie: both out 2.5 turns, 3.0 turns, etc.) or can the screw adjustments be different? How do you know if they are balanced and evenly adjusted when you are done? Does it matter?
Thanks!

Ther is a special tool out there to sync carbs but it is just as easy to watch them as you apply throttle...with the motor not running..then use the adjusting nuts on the cables and carb tops to get them as close as possible.
it probably isn't going to make a huge difference without the crossover...it might depend on your type of riding
The idle screws should be even, usually in half turn increments...if they arn't, you probably have a problem somewhere else.

409:
How can you tell if the Idle Speed screws are not adjusted correctly?
Also, are you saying to screw them out equal distances is all that is needed to ensure they are adjusted correctly?
On the synchronization, where do I look to see if they are even? Remove the air filters and look down the throat at the slides? As long as the slides move together and at the same time, are they considered syncronized?
As far as the balancing tube is concerned, have you ever seen a set up minus the balancing tube or boost bottle?
Anyone else have info / solutions to the above?

I do not have the crossover tube on mine either. It performs just fine. To syncronize the idle you kinda have to have a "ear" for it. Screw them all the way in and then back out equal distance. Then you just have to listen to the motor to determine if they are in sync. Look into the mouth of the carb and watch the slides raise and lower and they should be in perfect time with one another. Adjust the top as 409 stated.
