Any body heard about the new 28 inch Vampires?

They have 2-3 inch lugs on them. The only bad thing about them is that you will need atleast a 500 class quad to pull them because they weight in at 60 lbs per tire/wheel, acording to Highlifter which tested them on a Sportsman 500.

So what you guys think about them?

I wouldn't want to use them on hardpack. I'm sure they'd be fine if you lived in a swamp.

I'm not sure about these, people are still breaking front drive axles and CV joints with the 27" Vampires.. How are we going to swing the extra weight ontop of the 27" and rob more horsepower.. I think that the tire manufacturers are outrunning the ATV manufacturers. I'm thinking just overinflate the 27" tires and you'll be right there with the 28" with less weight.
I can see it now, Highlifter will be making Titanium front axles for the Foremans, and a chrome moly steel gear drive setup to replace the drive belt on auto tranny quads.... heheheheehe...
Guess bigger is gonna be better though.. If you can afford to tweak the big machines to turn them. Might as well take the High range out of the Sportsmans.. and 4th and 5th gear out of the Foremans.

MudMachine,

I'm holding out for the Vortec Supercharger

If they really weigh 60 lbs per tire/wheel - Jeesh - lets just go ahead and put "Q" buckshots on the quad.

Happy Trails

Bog Hog,
Yeah..hehehe.. I'm thinking a 60/40 mix of 108 octane race fuel and nitromethane. Throw in a healthy dose of nitrous oxide, a 6p.s.i. boost Turbro-Tronics turbocharger. Re-gear it to about 6:55 to 1:00 ratio, and MAYBE... JUST MAYBE.. we can turn these monsters.
Seriously, I bet Honda, Polaris, and Yamaha all start voiding warranties on machines with 28" Vampires!!!...
Later, Robert

I have to go with mudmachine on this one here. It seems to me that the 28" are just overkill. Really how much of an advantage are you going to get over the 27" Vamps after you include the power and handling sacrifices, as well as the increased unsprung weight. Aluminum rims would be a must! You can only improve so much and then you max it out. After that, tread design and personal preference are the key points.

The 28's have a different tred design. The tred is a cross between ITP's AG kit and normal Vampires.

Well up until a week or two ago I thought that I had the best mud tire on the market. Then Interco leaks word of a new 28" Vampire with 2-3" lugs!! I must admit that I live to ride in the deepest baddest mud hole I can find and I live near a lot of quad swallowing holes. Therefore I find it necessary to put my 4 27x12x12 Vamps on the market for a good price and pursue the ultimate mud tire: the new 28" Vampires!!

"LOCK 'EM AND LEAVE 'EM!!!"
and maybe I'll see ya'll on the Dark side of the Swamp someday!
