Tell Me How To Read Tire Sizes
#1
Recently, I found a nail in the back tire of my recon. Now that I have a reason to buy new tires, can anybody tell me how to read tire sizes?? The stock tires are: 22x7x11 and 22x10x9. Would 20x11x9 Maxxis Razrs fit on the recon?? What about 22x7x10??? Thx for the help.

Reconrider,
Kirk explained it pretty well. Just to clarify it a little further, tho, the first two numbers in a size can be altered within limits but the third number must remain the same as it is the rim size. As for the 20/11/9 Razrs you mention, they would fit, but keep in mind that you'd change your gear ratio cosiderably and the shorter gearing will cut the top end on a smaller engined bike quite a bit. On a shaft driven quad it is best to stay with the stock size tires unless you have a particular application in mind

Okay, here's yet another question about tire sizes, as I'm contemplating on which tire to replace my stock Dunlops. I'm probably gonna go with a 20x11x9 setup for the rear with either Holeshots, Razrs, or Shredders on Douglas .190 wheels, and I know they'll fit but shorten the gearing, but should I reduce the front as well since I'm effectively lowering the rear by two inches? My Warrior comes stock with 22x11x9 on the rear and 22x7x10 on the front, so if I drop to a 20" tire on the back, should I also drop the fronts as well...to a 21" tire...or does it even matter?

Reconrider,
I do not believe so - you would need to make sure the wheels have a bolt pattern for the Recon. On some quads, the wheels will interchange (the Honda 300 and the 450 for example).
Good luck and Happy Trails

2000_Warrior_350,
First of all , your ground clearance will only drop one inch, not two, as the other inch is above the axle.
I have run BanditXC's all around in 20/10/9 & 21/7/10 thru two complete sets. There is no noticible visual difference in the stance of the bike in just dropping the height of the rears. Since you will only have 3.9" of ground clearance, however, you'll need to have pretty good protection on the swing arm & rotor.Unless you really need the additional low end & can afford to lose the top end, going to a 14T c/s sprocket will restore the gear ratio. I run a 15T and still have tons of low end.
