polaris transmission is slipping

propnut, i think the reason your so protective of the honda disign is because you've prolly have owned all hondas and nothing else so you just suspect that your ride (being the honda) is the best one out there.

Really though, I sat down at lunch and listed what I could remember. Not including boats, cars, and trucks I've had 37 sleds/atvs/cycles from 10 manufacturers (Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Polaris (yes Polaris), SkiDoo, Arctic Cat, KTM, Moto Ski, and Scorpion).
I'm on my 38th car/truck. I used to have a high rate of turn-over, but that changed when I got married 10 years ago. I actually put 100,000 miles on my 96 Jeep before I traded it for my current ride.
My boats were exclusively Glastron GTs and Carlsons.

I did't say they're so bad, just not up to some other trannys like a manual or Hondamatic. I haven't driven the Rincon so I can't say anything about that tranny.
I think other manufacturers use belt CVTs because they are easy and inexpensive to design and manufacture, and they perform satisfactorily. Can't really blame them I guess.
Yamaha, Polaris, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Arctic Cat, and Bombardier all have experience with belts on sleds. Do you think it was just easier for them to apply it to ATVs - rather than go through the effort and expense to take so long to design, test, refine, and produce something completely different, more expensive, and possibly better?

I have a 99 trailboss 250. Have rode it very hard and the belt has never slipped once. I have even went through deep water up to the seat and it has not slipped. There is no lag in the belt when i hit the throttle. Maybe i just have a good design or have been very lucky. I had to push a yamaha grizzly automatic up a hill last weekend. His belt was slipping. I know that polaris has the worst transmission setup for the Automatic's. I own 2 pheonix they have had problems from day one. It has been to the Dealer 7x's no one has answer's about why or how to fix this problem. I have only had these for not even one year and they have been at the dealers for a combined time of 7 months and i am paying for these pieces of JUNK to sit at the repair shop. Polaris does not want anything to do with this problem and they are still under Warranty. They just keep replacing the same old part over, over & over again this time i am out of the Warrenty and have to replace BOTH MOTOR's in the Quad's. A combined total of $9000.00 to repair this problem which should have been fixed the second time they went in. It is not worth it to fix them I could buy 3 more brand new for that REPAIR bill. I will never buy any product from Polaris again they just simply DO NOT stand behind ANY of their (PRODUCTS) at all. I know about 15 people that have purchased a Polaris all Models's and have got no where with the Manufacturer. They knew the whole time that the tran's was bad because the 2005 Model are known for this problem, they were suppose to have fixed this problem on the 2006 but guess what didn't even come close. If anyone out there has or had the same problem please let me know!

Hey there EXtr, sounds like dealer issue's to me, I own two as well and I've yet to pay for anything (unless I broke it myself) and I'm in my 2nd year on both.
Polaris even went as far to replace a belt that I only mentioned might have gotten hot pulling my buddy and his waterlogged grizzly 20 miles out of the bush. (warranty)
If that's the case it's to bad no matter what you ride or where you bought it, the dealer should stand behind you.
