I GOT NEWS THAT HIGHLIFTER IS MAKNG A SERIES OF CAMS THAT SOMEHOW BOLT TO YOUR STEERING. HIGHLIFTER TOLD ME THAT WITH A LOCKED FRONT END AND THESE CAMS YOU COULD TURN THE BIGGEST TIRE ONE HANDED WITH EASE. THEY SAID MORE OR LESS IT'S LIKE POWER STEERING. THE FIRST ONES ARE FOR THE GRIZZ, SAID TO BE AVAILABLE IN MID JAN. THE REST OF THE BIKES,MID FEB. THEY SAID THEY ARE HAVING A LITTLE TROUBLE WITH THE FOREMANS BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF ROOM AROUND THE STEERING. LOCKER/CAM SET TO SELL AROUND $350. WOULD IT BE WORTH AN EXTRA $200 FOR THE STEERING UPGRADE? HOW HARD IS IT TO STEER WITH JUST THE LOCKER? ASKING ALL WHO HAVE LOCKERS.

I would suspect that how hard it is to turn depends on what kind of tires you have on the front and how wide they are. I personally have 27x12x12 Vampires on the front of my 450Sand also have a locker. I can tell you that it takes a man to turn this thing while just on the grass in first gear. Also, in reverse, it is even harder to steer because when you turn the handlebars it wants to stay the way you turn them. You have to fight it back to the middle. Personally I wouldn't trade mine even though it is harder to steer but it makes up for it in the mud.

At the present time i have 27" XT,s on locked 450 es. As stated by others that at slow speed and esspecialy reverse steering almost require two men and a little boy to get it straight again but as you get a little used to it you will find throttle use to your benifit. a little fuel will help to ture your wheel back to straight. The one bad point i find with my locker is going down hill on a turn other than that i would not change it back for anything. Also i have found that you can have a locker gears made up at any shop that does under water plasma cutting can make a set for about 90.00 canadian where i live. which comes to about 55.00 us. Also it doesn't matter what you wheel as long as you wheel......
