10" or 8" Beadlocks

i am looking to race mx in the local races i have a TC racing 405cc 300ex +3 a Arms +2 +4 axel i have rikens on poilished rims and want to know the difference between 8 and 10 inch beadlocks i now have 8" rims with turf tammers also can u let me know the difference from stock turf tammers to the grooved turf tammers

If you are using 18" turfs, with an 8" wheel diameter (18x8 turfs) there is more sidewall versus the 10". More sidewall means more sidewall flex and as the tire "rolls over" there is more surface area touching the track. All of this means more side bite 8" and less side bite with 10". I order from NAC's and they suggested 10" and I still have too much side bite. (more or less air pressure can have the same affect)
This is when grooving comes in. You can cut away lugs to reduce side and forward bite or you can cut extra grooves in the lug around the circumfrence of the tire for more side bite or across the tire for more forward bite. There is a little more to it than this, but this is enough to get you started.
Another good way to learn is go to the kind of race you plan on racing and look closely at the pros bikes and you can learn quite a bit and check out there tires, groooovve city.
