Default reverse the wheel for wider front???

I'm using a Bayou 300 2x4 front suspension on a golf cart, I need a wider front wheel base. Reversing the wheels did it, is this OK to do? Has anyone done this to make their ATV wider for flat tracking or what ever?

I've heard of others doing this, mostly on 2x4 sport quads. I wouldn't think it would cause too many problems. It will probably cause a little more stress on the bearings, but less than spacers would.
