yes i just spoke with chaparral motorsports and they said the same thing! i am so nervous about buying actual tires for him maybe i should just get him a $200 GC for them and let him get his own tires. they said it would cost $169.96 for the set of tires and douglas rims. why are guys so hard to shop for!?

I have the ITP Sand Stars. The ones with a dual ridge.
My wife actually bought them and gave them to me on my birthday. It was a great present. I'll put a pic of them on my page
I like them and for the money you cant' go wrong.

Is this for the YFZ??? You don't want to take a light little bike, and saddle it with big heavy tires. If he is running Skats on the back, get him some Skats for the front............they are WAY LIGHTER than any of those new generation of molded tires that are out there. I like the Mohawk. They have a set of ***** down the middle (but not a solid bead), and again, this helps keep things lighter. For me, this gives the best ratio of weight to performance.
On the other hand, tires are a real personal issue, so maybe you need to consult him before you spend any money???

thanks! i think thats exactly what he would want! but you're right i think i am going to get him a gift certificate. i feel bad though. last year i pretty much did the same thing. i took him down to chaparral and bought him full gear. and the sad part about that is EVERYTHING besides his boots were ruined when he crashed
anyway thanks for the help guys

It's easy to exchange stuff at Chaparral, so get him something and take a chance. If he wants something else, he can exchange it.............

Front dune tires are not a must but if you spend most of your time there and he wants them just ask him a hypathetical question of what he would get or likes.
Maybe ask as if you were thinking for your quad.
You wouldnt want to get him something that he dont want/like, return s&h sucks.
Just ask him or go the G.Cert route.

first off jsut buy them from rocky mountain, and if he is allready running Skat-trak on teh rear get him a set to match teh from, If he mainly drags, get him the smoothies, but if he drags, and still hits the dunes and jumps get the Mohawks, just make sure to keep the rims light as possible.
