Default Need Help With Wolverine Tires

Hey guys I need some input! I currently have Maxxis Bighorn Radials on my unmodified 2004 Wolverine... 25x10x12 rear and 25x8x12 front. They are mounted on IPT C-Series 4 aluminum rims. This combination is a lot heavier than the stock wheels with 23 inch Dunlops. On the open trails and in snow the tires work great. On technical trails the machine beats the #iss out of me!!! I think this is due to the full time 4wd and the high bite of the bighorns on the front. I put the stockers back on after using the Bighorns for 2 years and the bike handled wonderfully, but I miss the added ground clearance of the 25" tires.

What have you Wolvey owners found that is light, rides good, not bad in light mud and snow and fairly durable? I have read thru many posts about tires on various forums and find that EVERBODY has the best tire on their bike! Please guys, cut thru the BS and tell me what works well on the Wolverine

Thanks!!!

Holeshot ATR's- light, 6ply, great all terrain grip, pretty good ride. Not the best in mud.

Thanks for the reply Lotus. Nice looking Wolvey by the way!

I guess the other Wolverine riders are either shy or out riding.

I am pretty happy with my Titan 489XT's. They come in a 24", which is a good compromise between 23's and 25's, although you can get 23 and 25 too. They are pretty good in most terrains, but wear somewhat fast on pavement. Of course, pavement isn't what they were designed for. If and when I get my next tires, I am also going to look into the mudlites and the Kenda Bearclaws.

I got a set of 25's that came stock on the Kodiak, similar tread pattern as the stock Wolverine tires but much taller and still light. I also have a set of Maxxis Sur-Tracs on Douglas wheels with the reinforcement rings which is a nice set up but the Maxxis are much shorter than the Kodiak tires in height even though they are numbered the same size (25's).
