I have 2000 Honda Foreman 450S if I go to 27inch tires like mudbugs or Blackwater or Vampires will they fit without a problem or will a lift kit be required

DanimalFL:
I'm not sure about your lift requirements. The local Honda dealer here is installing 26" Mud Sharks to many of the 450's that go out, stock without a lift, so the 27's you are looking for just may fit themselves. One thing to consider though, nearly all the tires out there, and especially the ones you mentioned, do not measure their actual heigth they claim. The 27" Mud Bugs for example, actually measure about 26.2", so clearance gains may not be what you'd expect.

Since you mentioned the Mud Bugs, and the Vamps, I'd also highly recommend taking a look at the 27" Bi Claw/Tri Claw Magnums. I was looking at the Bugs and 589's myself, till Andy suggested going with the 'Claws. I ended up purchasing them, and couldn't be more happy with their performance. They are a great tire, do well in all area's, and unlike most other tires, are actually "true" to their size. I think they actually measure a little taller than 27" actually, so you may need a lift to run them. I took measurements both before and after, and ended up with about a 2" gain in ground clearance all the way around-pretty damn good if you ask me. Also, the 'Cat steers much easier with the Bi-Claws up front, compared to the stock 25" Titan 489's. Traction-well, that speaks for itself.

Take a look at www.highlifter.com, they've got several variations of tires, including the Bugs, 'Claws, Vamps, Outlaws, 589's, and a few others. They can tell you for sure about your lift requirements as well.

Hope that helps,

Mike

The first time I actually saw a set of 27" claws, they were on a stock 450 ES on the showroom floor. They fit, but barely. That was just sitting. Now how they would do with shock compression and rebound I don't know. You might find the need for a lift to keep from slapping the fenders.

Is this an Arctic Cat owner trend or what??

I've rode with a freind who has 27" Mud Bugs on a 450s with no lift kit and the tires don't rub.
